Welcome to Fleet Learning Centre If you have any questions please contact admin@fleetclc.co.uk HELP FOR LEARNERS Advice and Guidance We aim to put you on the right course to suit you - please discuss your needs with any member of staff. We also aim to support you if you have any extra needs - maybe to get you help with maths or English, or some extra equipment to help with your studies. Please let us know if you have any questions. Costs We receive most of our funding from the Learning Skills Council - who expect adult students to just under 30% of the cost of IT courses themselves. If you are on benefits you may receive further financial support. Students who have not been resident in the EC for three years will normally have to pay for the full cost of courses. Induction You will receive an induction session. This is an important session to explain how the centre and courses work, and what is expected of you. You will receive advice on Health and Safety, and other centre procedures. Booking We do ask you to book your learning sessions. This enables us to plan our resources. It would also enable us to contact you if, for example, we had to close due to technical problems. Reviews We give all our students the opportunity to have regular reviews with tutors. This will vary slightly depending on your course. It is usually a short chat with a tutor ensure your studies are going well, that you are happy with procedures, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions about your course or what to do next. Please speak to a member of staff if you are more than two weeks into your course and have not had your first review. The tutor will make a few notes during the review, perhaps setting you some goals - this information is retained in your file. Workshops There are many "free" workshops available at the centre. These are usually open to all students - staff will advise you on the right time for you to attend. These are light-hearted tutor led sessions where a small group of students work on a specific topic e.g. file management, understanding databases, Attendance You do need to attend the centre on a regular basis. It is policy to withdraw learners who have not attended for four weeks. You may require a sick note for this ruling to be waived. Please discuss this with the centre staff if you have any concerns.
